The City of Oxford Silver Band is a registered charity.
We became a charity in 2017 with the objective to advance the education, appreciation and public benefit of the art of music and in particular, brass band music by promoting the study, practice and enjoyment of brass band music in all its forms through education, public performance and other musical activities across Oxford and the surrounding area.
We regularly play, free of charge, at events in support of local charities.
In 2022 at our Summer Concert, we raised £250 for Parkinsons UK. At Christmas we raised £1,000 for Oxford Mutual Aid, a local charity helping people through the cost of living crisis, and at Radcliffe Square Carols helped raise £300 for the Oxford Winter Night Shelter.
In 2021 we raised £1,000 for The Porch Day Centre.
in 2019 we raised £3,500 for local hospice Sobell House.
In 2018 we raised £1,500 for the national homelessness charity Shelter.
