About Us

The City of Oxford Silver Band is a vibrant and busy musical ensemble with a history that dates back to the 1840s. We perform at events all year round and are especially proud to have taught hundreds of people of all ages to learn an instrument for the first time.

Our library includes all kinds of music, from marches through popular and classical tunes to jazz as well as more traditional brass band pieces like carols and hymns.

Joining Us

More experienced players are invited to join the Senior Band and we welcome beginners and improving players into our beginners and training bands.   We offer individual and group tuition and can supply an instrument.  More about joining COSB…

It was great to have the City of Oxford Silver Band take part in our annual Oxford Open Doors event once again this year. The performances at Oxford Castle & Prison were hugely popular with visitors and the annual weekend would not be the same without them. All the best from the Oxford Preservation Trust team.

The band have performed at Oxford Race For Life for a number of years now and are an absolutely incredible source of support for us and our participants. They are absolutely brilliant players and really get people feeling inspired and joyful when taking part in our events - an absolute joy to have and we hope to work with them for years to come!

I have been running my baby development classes from this venue for a number of years now. It offers a fantastic space with very convenient free parking which is really important to my customers with very young babies who need to drive to Baby Sensory. Great location and only a few minutes off the bypass!

I use the band hall on a weekly basis for a number of years now for my weight watchers meetings. It's a great place and plenty of parking which is important for me. The kitchen is always handy too for making cups of tea or coffee and in the winter the heating is great and it soon warms up inside the hall when its cold outside
